Privacy Policy

This policy explains how information is processed when you use the WindLine iOS application or this website. WindLine is local-first, but Apple, RevenueCat, and Firebase services process limited information needed to provide forecasts, subscriptions, configuration, analytics, and diagnostics.

Information processed

WindLine processes saved coordinates and place names, comfort preferences, planned windows, reminder settings, cached forecasts, widget selections, time-format settings, and subscription access state. No WindLine account or sign-in is required.

The app does not operate a server-side user-profile database. Some data is processed by service providers as described below.

How information is used

Information is used to request weather forecasts for coordinates you choose, evaluate forecast suitability against your comfort preferences, display and cache planning results, schedule local reminders, show widget content, provide and restore Plus access, deliver app configuration, understand app usage, diagnose crashes, and respond to support requests.

On-device data

Saved places, comfort preferences and profiles, planned windows, local reminder records, cached forecast and widget data, and display preferences are stored on your device using Apple platform storage. CloudKit synchronization is not enabled for the WindLine data model.

Local notifications are scheduled and managed on the device. Notification permission is requested only when you choose to create a reminder.

Location data

Location permission is optional. If granted, the app may use your current coordinate to add a place or select the nearest saved place. You can instead add a place through MapKit search or by choosing a coordinate on the map.

Coordinates selected by you are sent to Apple WeatherKit to provide forecasts. MapKit may process search text, map interactions, and coordinates to provide search and map features. WindLine does not use these coordinates to infer fishing results.

Purchases and subscriptions

Apple processes App Store payments, billing, subscription management, and refunds. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user identifier, product and transaction information, and subscription status needed to present plans, determine Plus access, and restore purchases.

WindLine does not receive your full payment-card details. Purchase history retained by Apple cannot be deleted by WindLine.

Analytics, diagnostics, and configuration

The current app includes Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, and Firebase Remote Config. Analytics may process app usage events and device or installation-level technical information. Crashlytics may process crash reports, stack traces, app version and build information, and related diagnostics. Remote Config uses installation-level technical information to provide configuration values.

These services are used to understand app operation, investigate failures, and manage non-secret product configuration. They are not installed on this website.

Third-party services

Apple WeatherKit, MapKit, App Store purchase services, RevenueCat, and Firebase process information under their own terms and privacy practices. Their processing can occur in countries outside your residence. WindLine does not control each provider’s retention periods or independent legal obligations.

Support correspondence

If you contact support by email, the email address, message content, and any attachments you voluntarily send are processed to investigate and respond to your request. Avoid including sensitive information that is not needed for support.

Website behavior

This public website does not use cookies, browser local storage, analytics trackers, advertising pixels, marketing scripts, account systems, or contact forms. The hosting platform and reverse proxy may process ordinary request information such as IP address, user agent, requested path, response status, and timestamp in operational or security logs, depending on the server configuration.

Retention and deletion

On-device information remains until you remove it in the app or delete the app, subject to normal device backups and operating-system behavior. Deleting the app removes its local app data from the device.

Support correspondence is retained only as reasonably needed to address the request and meet legal or security obligations. Firebase, RevenueCat, Apple, hosting, and email providers apply their own retention rules. Deleting WindLine cannot erase purchase records held by Apple; subscription and purchase matters must be managed through your Apple Account.

Security

WindLine uses platform-provided storage and transport protections and limits processing to features the app provides. No method of storage or transmission can be guaranteed completely secure. Keep your device and Apple Account protected and contact support if you believe information related to WindLine has been exposed.

Children’s privacy

WindLine is a general weather-planning tool and is not directed to children. The app does not knowingly create user accounts or request a child’s name, age, or contact details. If you believe a child has sent personal information through support email, contact us so the request can be reviewed.

International processing

Apple, Google/Firebase, RevenueCat, hosting, and email providers may process information in jurisdictions other than the one where you live. Their privacy policies describe relevant transfer and safeguard practices. Your local privacy rights may vary by jurisdiction.

Policy changes

This policy may be updated when WindLine’s features, providers, or legal obligations change. The revised effective and last-updated dates will be shown on this page. Material changes should be reviewed before a new version is published.
