FAQ
Frequently asked questions
01How does WindLine work?
Choose or save a coordinate, then WindLine requests an hourly WeatherKit forecast and evaluates wind, gusts, rain, temperature, and time of day against your comfort preferences. It groups suitable consecutive hours into practical planning windows and explains the conditions behind each result.
WindLine evaluates weather comfort. It does not predict fish behavior or fishing results.
02What does the suitability score mean?
The score is an explainable comparison of forecast conditions with your selected comfort preferences. Higher scores mean the weather at that coordinate more closely matches those preferences.
It is not a scientific probability, a safety rating, or a promise that a trip will succeed.
03Why can a forecast appear unavailable?
A forecast can be unavailable because the device is offline, Apple WeatherKit is temporarily unavailable, a request times out, the selected coordinate cannot return usable forecast data, or the app needs to refresh an expired cache.
Check the connection, confirm the coordinate, wait briefly, and refresh. If the issue continues across multiple places, include the app version, device model, iOS version, and approximate time in your support email. Do not send private credentials.
04Is location permission required?
No. Permission is used only when you ask WindLine to use your current coordinate or select the nearest saved place. You can keep it off and add places using MapKit search or by selecting a point on the map.
05Can I add a location manually?
Yes. In Places, add a new place and use search or choose a coordinate on the map. WindLine uses your saved coordinates and does not provide a public fishing-location directory.
06Where are saved places and preferences stored?
Saved places, comfort preferences, profiles, planned windows, reminder records, and cached planning data are stored locally using Apple platform storage. WindLine does not maintain an account or server-side user-profile database, and its data model does not use CloudKit synchronization.
07How do I manage or cancel reminders?
Open WindLine Settings and choose Active Reminders to review or cancel scheduled local notifications. You can also change WindLine notification permission in iOS Settings. A reminder is based on the forecast at the time it was created, so refresh the app before leaving.
08How do I restore WindLine Plus?
Open Settings, choose WindLine Plus, then select Restore Purchases while signed in to the Apple Account used for the original purchase. The app asks Apple and RevenueCat to re-check eligible access. Restoration needs a network connection and does not start a new purchase.
09How do I cancel a subscription?
Open iOS Settings, tap your name, choose Subscriptions, select WindLine, and choose the cancellation option shown by Apple. Deleting WindLine does not cancel a subscription.
Apple’s current subscription cancellation instructions10How do I delete my data?
Delete individual saved places, profiles, and reminders in WindLine where available. Deleting the app removes its local app data from the device, subject to normal device backups and operating-system behavior.
Apple purchase history is controlled by Apple and cannot be deleted by WindLine. For support correspondence, email the support address below and identify the message you want reviewed for deletion.
11How do I contact support?
Use the email address below. Include the app version, device model, iOS version, what you expected, what happened, and steps that reproduce the issue. Screenshots are useful when they do not reveal sensitive information.
